Tag Line

In reading photography articles online, I have found several references to the importance of shadow in photos.  I love the concept that light is a necessity but shadows make the portrait.  It is just like life--we need the dark times in order to draw our attention to the good.  Tonight I read this concept summarized this way: "Light illuminates. Shadow defines."  It has been repeating in my mind since I read it.  We need both to make our life picture complete!  We need to see the shadows for what they're worth but to not actually let them define our lives in a way that makes us gloomy and dark.  We need to let it draw our eyes to the light of Christ and let Him illuminate us.  I have decided to make that my photography tag line because of its profundity.  (But I also realize I do not currently know enough about lighting for the shadows to define my portraits.  That will have to be a main goal as I progress!)
