The NILMDTS Foundation has a Facebook page. I posted a little blurb on their wall saying how I heard about them years ago and how I recently took up photography with the long-term goal of being a volunteer for them. A stranger commented on my post, saying she was told she needed a degree in photography and to let her know if I can volunteer. Hmm. My first reaction is, that can't be right! Even many professional photographers didn't get their degree in photography. And that isn't a requirement mentioned on the website's criteria for volunteers. Maybe if you're not a pro, you have to have a degree in photography or some way to show your portfolio? My second thought was, then I'll have to get a degree in photography in the future!
I sent a message to the foundation via their "Contact Us" link on their website asking if that was true. We'll see what they say!
